I imagine queer women would find m/f pairings mostly uninteresting, and f/f pairings unsatisfying as the characters have usually never met or had a conversation, and were probably written by men to appeal to men.The male characters are better written, more numerous, and their relationships are more developed and interesting-but they aren't physically female. f/f have the smallest number of pairings possible. (And if you wonder why queer women would be writing about m/m relationships, you will find that male characters typically outnumber female characters in western media to the point that there are simply more m/m pairings possible than m/f pairings. From a few surveys I've seen (obviously not professional) straight women typically turn up in the minority of female fanfic authors/readers compared to queer women.
Actually alot of male/male fanfic is written by queer women, not straight women.
